Hey everyone, meet my son! :) This is Gilly Arthur Turner.
7 pounds, 8 oz and 20.5 inches long (big kid, despite being more than 3 weeks early!)
7 pounds, 8 oz, and 20.5 inches long (big kid, despite being more than 3 weeks early!)
Gilly is Heather’s Grandpa’s name, Arthur is her Great Grandfather’s name, and Turner… not sure why we picked that. Odd.
I’m SO proud of Heather for carrying this little dude for 9 months and then crushing the labor like a champ.
This week made me reflect on one of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn as an entrepreneur and a father.
We get into the game of entrepreneurship and real estate investing because we want to provide for our partners and kids.
It takes hard work to succeed and sacrifices sometimes have to be made, of course.
But one thing I wish I had known sooner was that the ONLY people that are going to remember you worked late?
Your kids.
This is one of the easiest traps for high achievers to fall into.
Your heart is in the right place, but your priorities are backward.
You end up spending so much time on your work, that you never get to enjoy the incredible life with your family.
What’s amazing is that your family will also be the only people who truly appreciate you spending more time on them, over your work - not the other way around.
Last year, I was supposed to go home on Friday, but I got invited to go on a big podcast on Saturday.
So I called Heather and told her that I may have to stay until Saturday now for the huge opportunity.
Her eyes dropped a little.
“Rosie has been counting down the days until you come home.”
At first, I told her we could just break it to her lightly and that I’d be home just one day later.
But then an hour went by and it finally clicked.
“What the hell am I doing?”
We rescheduled the podcast for later and I went home like I originally planned.
No one's going to remember that you worked late.
Except for your loved ones. They are going to remember.
The solution? Prioritize the work you do and the actions you take AROUND the things most important to you.
That’s how you scale in business without sacrificing your faith, family, or freedom.
Some Tools I Recommend To Grow Your Business
If you want to lose money fast as a real estate investor, try to do it all yourself.
Running background checks, collecting rent, marketing your properties, trying to keep the money organized? It’s like you’re running around with your head cut off.
I was the same way until I found the systems to plug into my business that helped manage all of these.
One of my favorite systems to recommend to investors is TurboTenant
They remove the headache and hassle for the pain points we all face as investors.
Background checks, marketing, rent collection. They let you do it all in one app.
Whether you have one property or thousands, they support you with all the tools and apps to keep your process in one place.
