Something I'm Reading:

Currently reading The Gap and the Gain (and listening to it on audible). It’s an excellent book about happiness and contentment in business and life. It’s written by Dan Sullivan and Dr Benjamin Hardy, both recent guests on the BP Podcast (and authors of Who Not How).

Something I Teach:

Let’s talk about Lead Habits. This is a term I’m coining (hey - it’s a work in progress). These are the small habits that lead to bigger, fundamental changes in your life. For example, if you want to run every morning, that’s a good habit but its hard. But laying out your shoes and running clothes in the morning - that’s easy - and by doing that simple “lead habit”, you’ll be much more likely to accomplish the harder habit. Another example: you want to wake up earlier. That’s tough. So maybe a Lead Habit would be to 100% turn off your phone at 7pm each night (since we all know the reason you aren’t waking up early is you stay up too late on TikTok! 😉 ) . So the lesson is: define some of the BIG habits you want to add or change in your life, and then focus on developing some simple “Lead Habits” that will get you there.

Something Cool I Own:

Speaking of Lead Habits, I want to eat more salads. But I need good salad dressing to make that happen. But most salad dressing is full of crappy ingredients, so I want to make my own. But... I don’t. Because its complicated. SO I bought these which are awesome. They’re little glass bottles with several salad dressing recipes printed on the bottle, with lines to show how full of each ingredient to put into the bottle. Once the dressing is in the fridge, I’ll be much more likely to accomplish the bigger goal of more salads. Boom.

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

Brought out a couple BiggerPockets members to Maui to help me work on some construction projects around my property. They are killing it (thanks Yvans and Gene)! This photo taken at my favorite restaurant - MonkeyPod :)

Something I'm Excited About:

Two things (the second one is big news for you):

  1. We raised all the money for Cheval in under a week!

  2. I’m going to start doing Q&As on Zoom exclusively for Behind the Beard subscribers! These will be random Q&As with me where you can join, ask me a question, or just listen in! These wont be scheduled - I’ll just send a text with a Zoom link and the time I will be going live. Keep an eye open for the first one coming up soon! I’m only sharing the Zoom link with those on my text list :)

Something I Can Answer:

Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard textletter! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!

Question:  “When you were younger and just starting out, how did you keep yourself motivated and hold yourself accountable on a daily basis? What habits did you create?” -Klint

I read, a lot. Each time I read a real estate book, I was re-invigorated and reminded about what I wanted. In fact, many times I would just re-read Rich Dad Poor Dad or The 4 Hour Workweek. Every time it got me excited. It still does to this day. I also set annual goals with my wife, which helped a ton!

Your Friend,

P.S. Have a question you want answered by me? Reply to this text with your question - I pick one to answer each week in Behind the Beard and do my best to reply to others directly via text.
