Something I'm Reading:

Im re-reading my favorite parenting book - How to Talk so Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber and Julie King. The title is pretty self explanatory but a great read for any parents (or soon-to-be parents) out there.

Something I Teach:

“The Clarity of What”.  So many people try to answer the “how” question before the “what.” In other words, they are saying, “I don’t know how I’m going to afford to buy a real estate deal” or “I don’t know how to order wholesale products from China”  or “I don’t know how to get better at long distance running” before they even have clarity on what they want to focus on. Focusing on the “how” is a dangerous form of procrastination.  When you have the clarity of “what”, the how is always “figureout-able”.  Examples: Decide 100% you are going to buy small multifamily properties in Denver and you’ll figure out the how. Decide 100% you’re going to import wooden sunglasses to sell on Etsy, you’ll figure out the how.  Decide 100% you’re going to run a marathon and you’ll figure out how.

Stop focusing on the how until you’ve decided the what.

So… what “what” do you need to decide on today?

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

Meet Jen Kahn, the winner of “The Ultimate Real Estate Investing Experience” contest that I launched last summer! This is us, after a four hour conversation about what it takes to scale one’s real estate business!

Something I'm Excited About:

We’re opening Month in Maui bookings to the general public in the next week! But before we do, I wanted to give Behind the Beard readers first dibs at booking a month AND a nice discount on the price ($2,000 off the luxury package or $4,000 off the premium package)! Our open months are super limited and we will be advertising to the general public next week so fill out the form ASAP via the button below for more info.

If ya haven’t heard of Month in Maui, it’s a luxury vacation experience for a different kind of traveler. You get 28 days in a new condo, your own SUV, a personal concierge, and a number of activities all included for one flat fee (starting at $17,995). And hey - maybe you’ll run into me on island 😉

Something I Can Answer:

Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard textletter! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!

Question: “What is the best time to switch from ‘part time entrepreneur’ to ‘full time entrepreneur’?”

That’s a tough one because it’s dependent on a lot of things. But the biggest thing I look for ensuring you can still pay the bills before jumping in full time. Even if I have to live on rice and beans, I want to make sure I can still pay for that rice and beans and put food on the table before quitting. I wouldn’t switch to full time entrepreneurship until I have very basic bills covered via the income from your side hustle or “entrepreneurship plan”. If I hate my job, I’d rather switch jobs and take a lower paying job that offers for flexibility and enjoyment and use that income to pay my bills while In continue to work on my side hustle. Once I scale my side hustle to cover those essential bills, then I’d switch over to being a full time entrepreneur.

Your Friend,
