Something I'm Reading:
I’m currently reading Miracle Morning for Parents and Families by Hal Elrod and Mike and Lindsay McCarthy.
Something I Teach:
One of the concept from the Miracle Morning for Parents and Families book that I like a lot and plan to implement is creating a family vision. As an entrepreneur, I’m pretty good about laying out the vision for my business. But for my family? Kids? Sounds like a great idea! I challenge you to write a family vision before going into 2022 - family is far more important than business so why neglect it?
Something I Photographed:
Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.
Morning rainbows :)
Something I'm Excited About:
Taking the next year off! If you haven’t heard, at the end of December, I’ll be leaving a nine year run on The BiggerPockets Real Estate Podcast. I’ve decided to take the next year to be with family and to continue building Open Door Capital. If ya missed my “official” announcement on Instagram, it’s linked here. I’m sure I’ll be popping on the podcast as a regular guest and I’ll still be active on social media (and sending Behind the Beard of course) so you’'ll still see plenty of me :)
Something I Can Answer:
Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard textletter! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!
Question 1: “What are some tasks you’d give an assistant to do and would you recommend starting virtual first?”
Before hiring an assistant, I would create a checklist for some process I currently do OR something I know I should be doing. For example, pulling a list of all the “For Rent” properties from Craigslist and sending them a message asking if they would be interested in selling their property. Once I have that process, I would outsource that to my assistant. Virtual assistants work really well with checklists! Some more examples could be lead generation, calendar management, booking travel, answering tenant phone calls or things like that. There are a number of websites out there for hiring virtual assistants but one that I’ve used (and liked) is onlinejobs.ph.
Question 2: “In your opinion, what is the fastest way to scale your real estate business?”
Hire a rockstar COO for your business and let them go to town. It’s a simple answer but the best way to scale!
Your Friend,
P.S. Have a question you want answered by me? Reply to this text with your question - I pick one to answer each week in Behind the Beard and do my best to reply to others directly via text.
