Something I'm Reading:
I’m reading “How Not To Diet” by Michael Greger because I’m fascinated by the science and psychology of eating healthy. It’s a good read if you are too (or are trying to be a healthier eater/person).
Something I Photographed:
Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.
I bought a hammock for my fruit because everything deserves a hammock in Maui :) Also - spot the BeardyBrew! You can pick up a bag at BeardyBrew.com (shameless plug).
Something I'm Excited About:
The ODC Job Fair launched this week! Open Door Capital is hiring for FIVE new positions. If you're looking to work with me and my rockstar team and join a fast growing real estate company with great benefits, check out the open positions here. We have opportunities for all types of skillsets (and most are remote) so be sure to review all the job postings and feel free to apply for more than one!
FYI - Applications will likely only be open for around a week so don't miss the application window.
Something I Can Answer:
Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard textletter! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!
Question: “Knowing you’re an avid reader, how do you find time to read so many books? Do you time block your calendar for reading or perhaps read as part of your morning or evening routine?”
One chapter per day. That’s really it. I set a goal to read one chapter of a nonfiction book each morning and do so 95% of my mornings. The average nonfiction book is around 10 chapters, which means I’m able to read around 3 nonfiction books a month or 36 of them each year - and it only takes around 15 minutes a day (and imagine the long term impact that 15 min can have)! I also try to read a chapter or two of fiction before bed, which adds another few dozen books a year.
Something I Teach:
By the way, this mentality (mentioned in “Something I Can Answer” above) is how I approach a lot of areas of life. Just a little bit each day. One chapter. One deal analyzed. One 30-minute workout. One phone call. One chapter of the Bible read. One deep conversation with Heather. What I’ve learned about success is this: it’s not the big actions, it’s the simple accumulation of a lot of little daily actions!
Your Friend,
P.S. Have a question you want answered by me? Reply to this text with your question - I pick one to answer each week in Behind the Beard and do my best to reply to others directly via text.
