Something I'm Reading:

Just finished reading Win the Day by Mark Batterson. It’s written by a Christian pastor but is a personal development book with a bunch of great lessons in it. I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!

Something I Teach

What is the system that WILL deliver the results you want? Define it. As entrepreneurs, we are terrible at getting this stuff done, even though it’s vital. Like hanging bandit signs, posting on FB, calling 3 prospects a day, posting the ad, DM’ing the person, etc. But IF we did this stuff, we’d almost be guaranteed to succeed. So - how do we overcome our inability to get these repetitive/boring tasks done?

Step one: define the system and write it out in detail.

Step two: Two options. a.) tracking/accountability or b.) hire someone else to do it for you. Employees do stuff as they are told and don’t mind repetitive work.

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

Something I'm Excited About:

Some really exciting things are right around the corner at ODC! I’d share more if I could 😉. Sign up at odcfund.com/email to hear the news and get early access before we share it with the general public.

Something I Can Answer:

Yesterday on my Instagram story I asked for some questions to answer in today’s BTB. You guys submitted A LOT of great questions so I will likely do a full Q&A for next week’s BTB. Today, I’m answering the question submitted by @abinashjha_07.

Question: “Do you have any tips or tricks to increase focus?” -@abinashjha_07

I’m a big believer that you focus best in a designated “area of focus”. This is a physical spot where you go solely to work like an office. For me, this is is my Sea Shed. There’s something mentally about going to my Sea Shed that puts me into “focus mode”.

Just like how basketball players do the exact same routine before a free throw (dribble twice, pat the ball, dribble three times, pat the ball again etc), establish a routine that gets you in the zone right away. I grab a coffee, go into my Sea Shed and leave my phone outside (or off) to help me stay focused.

Lastly, create a check list of tasks that need to be done. Order it by priority and run through that list! I suggest taking periodic breaks (like a 5 minute break every hour) to help your focus - even when you don’t feel like you need it.

So…

  1. Have a designated area of focus

  2. Establish a routine to enter the “zone”

  3. Create a checklist and order it by priority

  4. Take periodic breaks
