Something I'm Reading:

Finished “Winning the War in Your Mind” by Craig Groeschel - which I have been reading for a few weeks. Phenomenal book. Now I wanna get the workbook that goes with it, and spend a weekend working on it! Also, for new stuff - I’m listening to “Save the Cat! Writes a Novel” by Jessica Brody on Audible. Excellent book on how to structure a fiction novel. Who knows… maybe you’ll be reading my first fiction novel by this time next year! (Or maybe not… but you, on the Behind The Beard list will be the first to know!)

Something I Teach

So, I’m traveling around the country in an Airstream trailer (ok, technically I’m writing this on a plane ride to Europe, but that’s just a quick side trip). As anyone who has done the “RV thing” before knows… every day has something (or many things) go wrong, break down, get lost, or in some way cause chaos. Like, it’s crazy how many little problems I’m dealing with on a daily basis. But here’s what I’ve noticed: when I approach those situations with an attitude of “this is a challenge I get to solve” instead of “this is annoying problem, why me!?” - it makes 1000% difference in my emotional state the entire time I’m dealing with it and the rest of the day. So, my encouragement to you is simple: when you’re next faced with a challenge, whether at work or at home or whatever… view it as a challenge, and you like conquering challenges. You got this!

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

Got to meet up with the Atlanta half of the Open Door Capital team while in town. It’s INCREDIBLE what you can accomplish when you’ve got an incredible team at your side.

Speaking of that… so far this year we’re already under contract on $100M+ in mobile home parks (our entire annual goal) plus two amazing apartment complexes.  THIS YEAR IS GONNA BE 🔥 🔥! Sign up for our email list here to stay tuned for more investment opportunities coming your way very soon!

Something I Can Answer:

Every week, I answer a question texted in by you! Reply to this text with your question to be featured in a future Behind the Beard.

Question: “I understand investors' recent shift to focusing on appreciation over cashflow during this time of inflation and government stimulus, but how can we reconcile that if we desire passive income to leave our W2 jobs? ”

Yes, many people have shifted to care more about appreciation. However, cash flow still exists and, if you’re looking for cash flow to replace a W2, it’s still there…it’s just shifted a little. Today, cash flow is mostly likely found in a real estate business like vacation rentals, senior living, section 8, and by getting creative with a property (like adding bedrooms, adding units, or renting by the room).

Your Friend,

P.S. Have a question you want answered by me? Reply to this text with your question - I pick one to answer each week in Behind the Beard and do my best to reply to others directly via text.
