Something I'm Reading:

I’ve been reading through the final “draft” of my new “Multifamily Millionaire” (volumes 1 AND 2) book which I wrote with Brian Murray. We’re aiming for launch at the end of July but it’s already available for preorder on BiggerPockets. Can’t wait for this one!!

Something I've Learned:

I learned that no matter how many editors go through a book, I still manage to find about 100 places to improve it! But I guess this is bound to happen when you have over 700 pages of content 😅

Something I've Purchased:

I bought my first cappuccino this week (crazy, I know) and I’ve had about 10 since then. I got my first one at Starbucks but the best is from Akamai Coffee (a local coffee shop here in Maui).

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

This is Squirrely - the highlight of our two week west coast road trip for my kids. We were underneath the immense Half Dome at the Ahwahnee Hotel (the second pic) in Yosemite - one of the most amazing places on earth - and all my kids could do was laugh and play with the squirrel!

Something I'm Excited About:

My team at Open Door Capital has been working around the clock to get ready for the launch of our fourth fund. Plus we got a couple big deals under contract this week!

Something I Can Answer

Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard Text List! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!

Question:  “Have you ever hit a patch where you lost interest or motivation? How do you power through that or re-spark the flame?” -David

Yes - definitely! However, I normally don’t feel this for long periods of time because I realized that this feeling typically comes when I’m bored, complacent and not growing. So when I’m in that spot, I try to learn something new, find a way to grow and stretch myself, or some other way to excel. This fires me up again because I’m most excited about learning and growing.

I love the quote from William Faulkner who said, “I only write when I am inspired. Fortunately I am inspired at 9 o'clock every morning.” The idea is that you should still put in the work even when you don’t feel like it. You should care less about motivation and more about the process. For me, once I start the process, the motivation tends to come again. I just have to get the ball rolling even when I don’t feel like it. I hope that helps!
