Something I'm Reading:

I’ve been reading The Happiness Equation by Neil Pasricha. The book talks through “9 Secrets to Happiness” and how you can apply the secrets and outlook to life in a practical way. Still reading it but its been good so far!

Something I've Learned:

One thing I learned from the Happiness Equation book is the two most important drivers of happiness are 1) Where you live and 2) The people you surround yourself with. I always assumed this was the case but its interesting to learn that science actually backs this up as well.

Something I've Purchased:

I just bought two dozen doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnuts in Denver. I’m trying to buy friends at BiggerPockets office in Denver while I’m in town for the day. And who doesn’t love doughnuts?

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

This is the size of the walk-in closet at the property we’re going to be buying in Houston (and I’m tall if you can’t tell)! 😂 This property is crazy awesome.

Something I'm Excited About:

Open Door Capital is partnering with a couple different investment companies on a some HUGE deals. We will be launching the fundraising efforts for one of them in the next several days! Its gonna be the biggest deal I’ve ever done but also the best deal I’ve ever done. Stay tuned for more info!

ALSO - I will be hosting a special happy hour at this year’s BP Con in October for anyone who has invested in any of our funds. More details coming but very excited for that!

Something I Can Answer

Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard Text List! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!

Question:  “How do you you respond to family members/close friends that consistently doubt the idea of real estate investing and the true benefits it provides?” - John

Let your actions turn your doubters into your future investors. As hard as it is, ignore them and be your own person. Go out and crush it. Follow the right systems and processes. Build the right machine. Build up your portfolio and your critics will become your LPs one day because they will finally see the power of what you’re doing. Your actions and success will speak louder than words!

If it’s a spouse, media changes mindset. When I first wanted to get Heather on board with investing, I agreed to read any book she wanted me to if she would read one I wanted her to. I read Twilight and she read Rich Dad Poor Dad. After reading it, she finally understood it and was onboard. As for me, well… #teamedward
