Something I'm Reading:
I’m re-reading Tim Ferriss’ “Tools of Titans” on my Kindle. Its great for picking up little tips and tricks for living and working better. Clearly it’s good since it deserved a re-read :) hahah
Something I've Learned:
Sometimes it’s better to not speak than to get in arguments with strangers on the internet 😉
Something I've Purchased:
I bought the children’s book What Do You Do With an Idea? by Kobi Yamada. I thought this would be a cute and great book to read with my kids. Have you read it before? If so, text me your thoughts!
Something I Photographed:
Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.
This was a screenshot of a post my mom made on Facebook. It’s a pic of 16 year old me. Apparently she still has my giant 4-foot tall poster of myself. True story: In college, I hung this for a time in the girls dorm. The same college I met Heather at. Coincidence? I think not 😉
Something I'm Excited About:
Two big things I’m excited for:
1) Open Door Capital launched the apartment deal in Vail Valley, Colorado yesterday. We give first dibs to past investors and those on our waiting list (be sure to sign up to get first dibs on future offerings). But keep an eye on my Instagram for when we launch it to the general public!
2) The launch of my new book series, the Multifamily Millionaire, in mid-August. Be sure to preorder if ya haven’t already 😊
Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard Text List! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!
Question: “What’s the best way to build a team?” -Brandon R
I’ll try to keep this simple. I have 4 steps to building a team:
1.) Create your vision (like my Vivid Vision I always talk about)
2.) Define the roles you need to get there. In the beginning , you’re probably all the roles. That’s ok!
3.) Starting with the role you dislike the most, hire people to take on those roles. Test people out with small tasks before hiring. Get lots of applicants. Pay well. Screen well. Make them prove themselves. Hire slow, fire fast.
4.) Be a leader to your team. That’s your job now!
Don’t forget that you can text me your questions for a chance to have them answered! I try to answer questions that can be applicable to most people (versus questions about specific deals or advice on numbers etc) but no questions are off the table. Just reply to this text with your question!
