Something I'm Reading:

I’m reading Mindless Eating by Brian Wansink. The author is a food psychologist and the book dives into the psychology of what we eat, why we eat, and how much we eat. It’s pretty eye opening and an interesting book if to read if you’re trying to watch your food intake (which I always am 🙂).

Something I've Learned:

From the book I mentioned above, I learned that Americans (including me) tend to eat what is on our plate versus how we are feeling. Other countries that eat less tend to eat until they’re full or mostly full. Something to be aware of is how much you put on your plate is about what you will eat and our minds believe we are full after eating that amount. In reality, our serving size shouldn’t dictate our appetite.

Something I've Purchased:

I picked up some Buffalo Sauce from Primal Kitchen which is made with Avocado Oil. Not only does this stuff taste so so good but its Keto, Paleo, and Whole30 approved if you’re into that. Great option for a “healthier” sauce. Clearly this is a food focused week for Behind the Beard lol

Something I Photographed:

Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.

Something I'm Excited About:

We are on the home stretch and almost done the full renovation on our Maui condo for my new “Month in Maui” business! August, the first month, is already booked. But September through December of this year are still available if you’re interested in living in paradise for month! Email matt@odcfund.com if you want more info 🌴

Something I Can Answer

Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard Text List! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!

Question:  “When should I start to use a property management company?” - Brandon

First of all, plan for it from day one and budget for it from the start. But property management is a fairly low dollar per hour task so you should replace it when you can earn more dollars per hour doing other tasks - like finding deals, flipping houses, or starting a business. If you can earn more than say $20 a hour, you should outsource it. If you cant, you should do it yourself. There is the benefit of learning how to manage a property so you can better manage a property manager down the road. However, this isn’t vital. I would perfect your skills of finding and vetting property managers early on so you can spend your time doing higher value tasks.
