Something I'm Reading:
I’m reading Dark Pattern by Andrew Mayne. It’s the fourth book in the “Naturalist” series by Andrew Mayne. I really enjoyed the last three books and this one is just as good. Its a psychological thriller if you’re into that and looking for something new!
Something I Teach:
I talk a lot about not building too many bridges toward your “dream island”. The more bridges you build, the slower they are constructed. However, if you are like me and you love doing a lot of things, then make your one bridge hiring and managing others to build bridges for and with you! Win-win!
Something Cool I Own:
I finally broke down and bought an air fryer. I’m now a believer. Been cooking a ton with it. Roasted veggies have never been easier nor tasted better. I finally understand the hype 😉
Something I Photographed:
Each week I share a photo I snapped in the previous week. Sometimes serious. Sometimes random and funny. Maybe a selfie once in a while. Just because.
Wilder and I enjoying the Maui sunset. Love these moments. BTW - doing another giveaway next week where you can win a free week stay in my condo in Maui so you can see this sunset yourself 😉Keep a close eye on my Instagram!
Something I'm Excited About:
Planning a Disney World trip has me pretty excited! Also likely going to do the Disney Cruise right after which also sounds like a great time! Hopefully covid doesn’t halt those plans.
Something I Can Answer:
Each week, I'll be answering one question from someone on my BehindTheBeard textletter! Want your question answered? Submit it by simply replying to this text!
Question: “I’ve built a portfolio of properties that I self manage. How would you start the process of hiring people internally to start managing them?” -Matt T
I would ask myself 3 questions:
What do I dislike doing the most?
What tasks could I outsource for the lowest dollar for hour?
What takes the most of my time?
Nail down the management tasks that encompass 2 or 3 of those and outsource them to start. You don’t need to hire full time employees at the beginning. There are a million people who would work a few extra hours a week who you could hire to handle some simple jobs. Hire them for the tasks that feel heavy to you and let them handle it!
I Have a Quick Favor to Ask…

Below is a survey with some basic questions about Behind the Beard - what you like, dislike, and want to see more of! If you have 2 minutes, I’d love your feedback.
